6/6/2023 0 Comments A Proper Thank You.I was recently gifted a very, very generous gift from the parents of the class of 2023 at my son's high school for the volunteer work I do. It was completely unnecessary but very much appreciated. I never expect anything for doing what I do so it was such a nice surprise and a great way to start the summer break.
So, my volunteer work... I created and continue to maintain the school's website and have done so for many years. Every single character on that website was typed by me, which makes me know things just because of that. I also like to help people and give them the "official" answer to questions so that we can all make better decisions and move forward as a community. As the saying goes, we are all part of each other villages and helping each other is so rewarding to me. I'm in an unusual position, as I get to work with the faculty and staff a lot but also get to work with many of the students, too. This class of (now) graduates are not only high achieving in their academics but many are stellar athletes, beautiful musicians, wonderful thespians, powerful scientists, awesome fire-fighters, delightful chefs, and so much more. But what I am most proud of, is that they are good humans. They will go out into the world and the world will be lucky to get to know them. I will miss them but I know they will continue to grow, love, and laugh and help people. For you card making enthusiasts, I used some of the gift to purchase a glimmer foil machine, which I have wanted for a while but was convincing myself not to get it. HA! Anyway, that's how I made the sentiment on this and it is lovely. I will be doing so much more this summer. Also, this is my 2nd stencil from theTonStamps. I love it so much and I'm so not a floral person. That must mean it's a good one, right? I tried reds since I'm not a red person. Working on that "getting out of my comfort zone". The flower is a little sparkly, too. Check out the matching envelope! Class of 2023 parents, thank you from the bottom of my heart... I will miss you all too. Stay in touch. Let us know what great things you and your graduates are up to! 6/5/2023 0 Comments 21! So Glad You Were Born![]() My son turns 21 today! I am so glad he was born! Here's another shaker card I made. I am really liking these. They are fun and not hard to do! And look confetti sprinkles as the shaker stuff! Ink blending over gold embossed balloons and sentiment then cut the 21 out all on a teal card (he likes green/teal!) So hard to believe he's 21. I love the young man he has become. Happy birthday, son! 5/30/2023 0 Comments You Got This!A couple of weeks ago I was invited to a practice thesis presentation for a high school senior. I had never been to one before and wanted to support her in any way I could so I went. And I took chocolate, because doesn't everyone need chocolate when practicing for a presentation-of-their-life-up-until-this-point? (I am 100% certain she will continue to give presentations in her life and that she will also knock them outta the park just like she did for the practice and her real senior thesis one).
Anyway, back to the card.... I was trying a stencil technique I learned in that #Stenciled2 class from @jennifermcguireink and @starofmay back in March except I was trying to use colors I don't use often. Orange and blue supposedly go together but hmm. Good news orange (we will pretend it is burnt orange) is the color of this student's future university and blue (navy embossing) is the color of her high school. So all tied together even though that wasn't the plan. Ha! And look... getting better at my brush lettering too. Practice on every envelope.... Graduation cards for our friends in the class of 2023 from LASA, St. Stephen's, Regents, and Austin High. Congratulations!!!
I volunteer at my kid's high school and work a lot with the admin including the principal, academy director, assistant principals, counselors and office staff. One of my favorite people, our academy director, retired this year. I will surely miss him and his laid back, carefree attitude. Everything he did, he did for the kids but he did it with humor, music and coffee! There was always classic rock playing around him and he always had a coffee in his hand. I wish him all the coffee he can imbibe in retirement and hope he keeps playing that music all day long.
100% copied/cased Laura Bassen's card off the simonsaysstamp blog here: https://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/blog/amore-laurafadora-fading-stars/. 100%. Thank you, Laura Bassen. 5/25/2023 0 Comments Teacher Cards!5/4/2023 0 Comments Magical, indeed.Remember the cookies and cookie sheet card from a few weeks ago, where I talked about how 5 moms and I hosted these happy hours? Well, I *needed* to make cards for those 5 wonderful ladies, too!
I love these cards so much. I have looked and looked for cocktail stamps, sentiments and even dies for a long time. I am pretty picky about what I wanted and these Newton Nook stamps pair well with MFT sentiments! And who doesn't like a little glossy accent? I LOVE THIS SENTIMENT... perfect for thanking my co-hosts for entertaining me with such a crazy idea. Cheers! |
