Trying to get back to card making. Need to remember this is good stress relief!
New year's goal (not resolution)... to create more and to actually send the cards I make. Card making was always my first love. The main lesson learned this month: Supplies from 2009 are not good anymore! 😂 This is watercolor paper with emboss resist (circles stamped with versamark and embossed with clear EP) and watercolor inks (concentrated ink in dropper bottles from KellyCreates). They are beautiful! Super bright, cheery and only a little bit messy!

Over the holidays, I went to visit my brother and his wife. They moved to Florida recently. I try to visit any stamp, stationery, crafting stores anywhere I go. And my brother took me to one close to where he lives! Pink & Main! And I, of course, wanted to support this cute, small business and maybe if I bought some stuff I would be more inclined to create more. Makes sense, right? LOL. Thankfully, my brother supports all my crazy adventures and was happy to take me to this store.
I bought a few stamps and stencils and a couple of rolls of cheer foil. I didn't know how to use the cheer foil but I had read some about it! I learned I could do this with a laser printer (check!) and a laminator (check!) and some foil (check!). I created some designs on the computer, then printed on a laser print on cardstock and then laminated it with the cheer foil. I bought two roils: a gold and a rainbow one. Here's what I made: 1/1/2023 0 Comments A long way back.I have always had a love for paper and stationery. While I always kept some sort of memory book, even as a child, I was introduced to the world of scrapbooking in the mid 90s. I loved it so much. In the mid 2000s, I went to my first card-making home party. Oh my goodness! It was like scrapbooking but with a much quicker end-result timeframe. Free time was really precious then and still is now and having the instant gratification of finishing something in one sitting was incredible! A year or two into card-making, I became a demonstrator for Stampin' Up and a few months later, an instructor with A Muse Stamps, a stamp company out of Seattle. What I really enjoyed with both of these endeavors, was teaching. I loved to learn new things and then teach them to others. I was fortunate enough to teach classes all over the state of Texas! I met so many wonderful and talented people and many are to this day my friends - all that shared the same passion I have with paper and ink and creating. I quickly learned that I didn't want to "sell" anymore and quit the SU! business and concentrated on just the teaching. The stamp stores in Texas were thriving. And then somewhere around 2011, they weren't. As many of them closed down, I stopped teaching and got back to life with my family and put card making on hold. Fast forward to 2021... when I said "I'm going to make my holiday cards this year". Bought all the stuff to make my Holiday Cards in November 2021 and then quickly ran out of time to do that for December 2021. Oops. Reset. Again. 2022 will be the year! Planning. This time I had a plan and started the plan early and it needed to be done in several steps to make out for the holidays in 2022. I did it! And that was all it took to get me back in. January 2023 New Year's Resolution - Create more cards AND send them. Let's see if *this* new year's resolution can stick. P.S. For reference (mostly for myself)... In the past, I had two blogs... first at blogspot and second at typepad but that one is defunct since it was a pay service. |
